B.E.S.T (Belleville East End Syrian Support Team) The Hamada family continues to settle into the “Friendly City” with driving trips around the city, excursions to the grocery stores and visits from members of their support team from Eastminster and St. Columba. They continue to receive support as they negotiate visits to government agencies and financial institutions to complete forms and paperwork. The two girls, Lina and Rima, have been enrolled in school and by all accounts are thrilled. They are already adding to their English vocabulary. The youngest, Yamen, with stay with Mum and Dad for now as they attend ESL classes. They are beginning to embrace our Canadian winter and dad, Mohamed Hamada, has expressed a desire to learn to skate. The children will not be far behind no doubt. We are still looking for drivers to get Mum and Dad to ESL (English as a Second Language) class, so if you have a half an hour or so during the week and you’d like to become involved, please contact Marsha Pordham at 613-962-0783. And if you’d like to attend any of our planning meetings please contact Brian MacLellan or Sarah Hopper at 613-395-6074 for more info.
