OUR CHURCH FAMILY AT WORK

OUR VISION: is to offer to the world the love of Christ.

OUR MISSION:  Christ calls us to be FAITHFUL disciples, who strive to be JOYFUL in our worship, TENDER in our lives together, and DARING in our outreach.

Coming Events

May 31 – Communion Sunday

June 3 – Needles & Knots 1:30pm-4pm

Starting in June, the new office hours will be Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, 9am-noon.

Friends at the church, just a quick update on our search for an Interim Minister for St. Columba. The session is acting as the search committee for this appointment. We have completed the profile and have also posted the vacancy on the Presbyterian Church Website.

I have received some expressions of interest. Unfortunately, most do not have the requisite Interim Minister training. At this point we will receive applications at least until the end of May and then decide next steps. Please continue to pray for the Session and for the congregation and especially for this process.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

John-Peter

Thank you to all who helped with the Stewardship Commitment campaign. Pledge forms can be brought to the office or put in the offering plate.

A heartfelt Thank You to the congregation for continuing to support St. Columba Church. Due to strong donations in January and February, and the positive impact of the HST Rebates, we have a positive balance of $14,735.91. We are currently on track to meet the 2026 budget. The only area where costs were higher than anticipated was due to the amount of snow fall this winter. Other categories are where I would expect them to be at this point in the year.

We also met our first quarter budgeted commitment to our Mission. We paid out $6872.00 to Presbyterian Sharing, PWS&D, Hospice, Gleaners and the Benevolent Fund. Thank you all for your help and support in 2026. F&M

For emergencies: In the upstairs bathroom, there is 81mg aspirin for heart issues, scotch mints and lifesavers (both are gluten free) for low blood sugar.

Soup: There are many kinds of soup available for purchase, which were made in a health inspected kitchen. They are in 2 cup containers in the church freezer and are $5 each. There is also stew for $7. Please contact the office to make arrangements for pickup and payment.

Prayer Requests: If you would like a prayer included in the Prayers of the People during worship, please add it to the book at the back of the sanctuary before the service begins. If it is a prayer for someone other than yourself, please seek permission before it is spoken out loud. We respect people’s privacy, especially with our services being live streamed. You are asked to print legibly so your request can be easily read.

Prayer Shawls are at the back of the sanctuary and can be taken anytime for people who need to know they are loved when they are struggling. You may also contribute shawls or yarn to the ministry. Convener: Phyllis MacKenzie.

Quilts for Cancer meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 10:30am-3pm. All are welcome to help with assembling quilts that are then given to people making the journey through cancer and treatment. Convener: Jane Cox.

Gleaners Food Bank: There is a grocery cart in the narthex for you to bring your food donations. So far we have donated 147lbs.
